I just signed up for this new online class called Letter Love 101: Art Journaling with Joanne Sharpe. It looks amazing! I can't wait to start learning. Joanne's work is absolutely beautiful, and her lettering is amazing. I believe this is her first online class too and it sounds like she is putting her heart and soul in to it.

I have taken a few other online classes, and all of them have been extremely enjoyable. What I truly love is when the instructor designs the class for unlimited access using private blogs! This is particularly important to me because I like to go back from time to time and re-learn what is being taught! No pressures!

FAQ: Where can I purchase a dog snood for my Cavalier? One excellent source to purchase your dog snoods is from Joan at Linden Line Designs.

Hello: For over Six Years Now, I have been making Dog Snoods for Cavaliers as well as many other Long Eared Breeds such as: Basset Hounds, Cocker Spaniels, Standard Poodles, etc. In fact, Spaniel owners tell me that my size X-Large snood fits the Springer Spaniel breed, as well as the Irish water spaniel, very nicely.

The snood is a gentle way to hold back the ears to prevent accidental chewing. It also helps keep the ears from dipping into food and water. And Snoods for Dogs are very popular with breeders that show their pups.

This snood was made using #95 - Jubilee:

Here is one sewn in #7 - Red Bandana:

There are many, many more fabric prints to choose from on the Snood Page @ LLD.

I sew these snoods with flat fell seams for extra strength and durability. The elastic is enclosed in a casing so that the fabric is what touches your family pet's fur, and not the elastic, which tends to pull. I also stitch the elastic in place to prevent rolling. Made from 100% cotton or cotton blends. Snoods are available in six sizes. I include size tabs as well as the laundry tabs which are sewn in for the convenience of the multi-snood-wearing dog owner.

Yep! That's Me! I decided that this year is going to be all about making changes. So I updated my Blog avatar using this photo of me. For the longest time, I was using the custom made "peace sign" that McKenna designed for me including a pug silhouette, This photo was taken about two years ago, but what the heck - better late than never, right? And oh my goodness - I truly DON'T want to take a current photo because I recently got my hair cut or should I say 'chopped off' and cannot wait for it to grow back to my normal length. Now I am not the kind of person who complains to their hairdresser. But in this case I truly wished I had the nerve to do so. This was the worst haircut I have ever had and what did I do....I said 'thank you', and graciously left for home! Have you ever had a bad hair cut before? If so, how did you handle the situation?

Speaking of changes for this new year, I will be making several product changes to Linden Line Designs, as well. I have a huge inventory of ready to ship items that I will be offering at my website as well as in my ETSY shop too. So stay tuned for lots of good "SALES".

Chomp Time!

Jane Austen-Eyre here. I thought I'd fill you all in on what I've been up to.

So, as I'm sure you all know, I really like to chomp on things. I find it relieves a lot of stress. And my Mommie thinks it's cute. Overall, chomping is a great hobby. So I thought I would see how many different objects I could chomp on–just for a challenge, you know, or, as I like to call it, a "Chomp Challenge."

As you can see in this first photo, my first Chomp Challenge object was a spoon. I like to help clean the dishes–Mommie puts them in the dishwasher and I lick them clean for her. Nice of me, isn't it? I know my Mommie has a lot to do, so I try to help as much as I can. This time, though, with my Chomp Challenge in mind, I thought I ought to try chomping on a spoon. It was a lot of fun. Spoons make getting through doorways difficult, though.

Next? A drawer! Drawers taste yummy, in case you didn't know. Mommie wasn't particularly happy about this one....

#3: The tie to my Mommie's robe! She wasn't very happy about this one, either.

See Mommie, I'm being green and reusing the water bottle!

And last but not least...an alarm clock! I don't like alarm clocks; I like to sleep in! Mommie always sets her alarm for 6:30 which is WAY too early for me. I thought if I chomped her alarm clock it would stop working and she wouldn't be able to wake up so early...but she caught me in the act! Oh well.

So, as you can see, my Chomp Challenge was very productive!

Jane vs. George

Hello Everyone. Jane Austen-Eyre here.

I have commandeered this blog so I could post about something puggish. Like me. And my new toy, George.

This is George. My great-grandma gave him to me as a present last week.

I love playing with George. Mommie gave me George to play with tonight so she could take some pictures of me, and this is what I did.

First, as the picture above illustrates, I had to sniff to make sure George smelled like me. My Mommie says my toys smell gross because they get covered in slobber, but she doesn't understand that that's a good thing. That marks them as my toys.

Next, I chewed on George a bit. Just 'cause it's fun.

Then I decided to chomp on George. I love to chomp on things. Especially my Mommie's fingers. (She doesn't always appreciate that.)

Well, then George made me mad. See, George has this really loud squeaker and I hate squeakers. Whenever one of my toys has a squeaker, I do my best to kill the squeaker it so it stops squeaking. I chomp as hard as I can on the squeaker until it won't squeak anymore. But George's squeaker won't stop no matter how hard I chomp on it, and that makes me mad because squeakers are annoying. So I thought I should tug really hard on George and maybe that would get the squeaker to stop.

George flailed one of his arms and begged for mercy.

George was defeated. But I still can't kill that stinkin' squeaker. Maybe next time.

Shortly after Mommie took this last photo of me, I ripped off one of George's antlers and one of his ears. Then Mommie took him away from me so I wouldn't eat the stuffing, which is no fun because I really wanted to eat the stuffing.

Hello everyone. McKenna here! I wanted to take a moment to post about LLD's new products: Wrapped Necklaces and Plastic Jewelry Links for Making Your OWN Wrapped Jewelry!

Let's start with the Wrapped Necklaces. Here is a picture of one of the styles LLD offers:

But that is only the beginning! If you visit our Wrapped Necklaces page, you'll see how we offer several different styles--oval links or circle links, or a combination of both--as well as a variety of color schemes. Lots of fashion magazines, like Vogue and Glamour, have been featuring wrapped jewelry recently, and these wrapped necklaces are my mom's take on the trend. My personal favorite is the one pictured above called "City Lights", but I also really like this one, which is called "Classic":

Oh, by the way...if you're wondering who that model is on our Wrapped Necklaces page, well...

...that's me! :) I had a lot of fun modeling for my mom, while she used my new Sony NEX-3 to take the photographs. I hope you all like the photos; I'm no expert model, but I did my best!

The Wrapped Necklaces aren't the only thing I wanted to mention in this post. We have released yet ANOTHER new product! I normally release only one new product at a time, but considering these two products complement each other, I thought I would make an exception...

For a while now -- at the Linden Line Designs website, I have been wanting a web page featuring all the products we offer for Pugs. In addition I was hoping that, McKenna (my very lovely and talented web designer - Daughter) would create an image entitled "The Pug Club. Isn't it wonderful!! I just love how it turned out. So much so, that we are in the process of using this image on various new products.

Not only has McKenna been busy creating a Pug Club page, she also added a Pugs On Parade page, too.

We have had some of our Pugs on Parade items available at our ETSY shop for awhile, but today is the first time they have been available on our website. Our original Pugs on Parade design is on harnesses, bandana scarves, even notecards! Keep checking back, as we will be adding more Pugs on Parade items in the near future. :o)

Beware...**mom bragging moment now***: McKenna taught herself how to design websites as well as code and maintain them 100%. And she started this at the ripe ole age of 12. Can you believe that!!

She also just finished her Associates Degree!! Plus...if that wasn't enough...she is going for her Bachelor's Degree and has just been accepted to Easter Washington University!! She is going to be an "EWU - UG" (Under Graduate) or better known as an EWU Eagle!

Jane Pug aka: In Training for the title "Champion of Badness"

This is absolutely one of my most favorite photos that McKenna took of Little Janie Pug. Janie looks so sophisticated, angelic and beautiful all rolled into one. HOWEVER, don't be fooled by that picture.

Little Miss Jane Austen Eyre has been studying her Uncle Howard Pee PugPants - Badness Manual a little too much these days. Janie really has her eye on the title of "Champion of Badness".

Well, as some of you know - little Miss Badness had a serious infection a few weeks back and is recovered from a recent surgery and feeling quite confident these days. So much so that she has totally, and I mean totally forgotten how to use good manners and act like the young lady we know and love.

Let's just say her new motto is: I WANT ATTENTION NOW!!! ... and if she doesn't get attention when SHE wants it...then she starts bark/howling at us in a somewhat sassy tone! But what makes it much worse...is when we try to correct this behavior...she proceeds to ...I hate to say this...she proceeds to 'hump' our leg as we walk away from her! THEN...if that isn't bad enough..as we correct her for doing this she will sit - look up at us...jump...and in a very snotty manner...jump at us while trying to take a chunk out of our thighs!!!

I believe we just might have spoiled her a tad TOO much while she was very ill. And now...she is trying to rule the roost with Badness Behavior.

I don't know if you are familiar with the TV show "Gilmore Girls"...well Little Janie Pug reminds me of Christopher's toddler age daughter - GiGi. LOL

As you can tell by today's photo of Jane she truly is a Beauty...and I just know that this little beauty is VERY smart...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she will use this intelligence of hers and start behaving a little more lady like. LOL

We definitely have our hands full with her majesty - Jane Austen Eyre the Pug!!

J A N E !!!

Hello Everyone!

HOORAY - we FINALLY have had some 'okay' weather lately. So much so, that we have been able to dodge the rain to take little Janie Pug for a walk. She wasn't able to go for any walks up until now due to her surgery.

Here are some photos from our walk to the park right across the street from our house.

This first one is of the waterfall just a few houses down from us. Isn't is beautiful?

I couldn't believe how close the geese and ducks let us near them!

Here is a picture of Little Janie Pug. As you can tell by her tail...she is still a little frightened when we approach a 'big' object; such as a boulder, tree stump, etc. She is getting better and better each day at realizing these objects are really okay!

This one I call: "Nature's Painting". Just look at all the textures as well as beautiful colors made by nature on this tree stump. I can also see a "heart", can you? [click on the image to view the details larger]

I would like to introduce two Beautiful Great Danes!! This first photo is of Cruz. Isn't she absolutely stunning. Her Mom - Antoinette just sent me these wonderful photos. Cruz is wearing a brand new 1.5" wide dog collar in our #89 - Girls Rule fabric.

HOORAY, Little Janie Pug is Playing "Carousel".....

UPDATE: It is Wednesday night, the 23rd. Jane is going extremely well. Her appetite is back and she is doing wonderfully. She will be going in tomorrow morning for spaying. This is good news. She will be back home with us Friday early afternoon - where we will await her with tons of TLC.

Whew...what a night!!! Within the first 14 hours of watching Little Janie Poo very closely we changed her diapers 14 times!! And I am VERY relieved and extremely happy to say that the bleeding has slowed down. And just as important, she is back to eating her dog food, PLUS she is playing her favorite game in the Whole Wide World: "Carousel".

Carousel???? How does a sweet little pug play Carousel you ask? Well, it goes like this:

When you enter the room and greet Little Janie from a nap, she is SO happy and very excited to see you that she will run up to you and as you kneel to pet her, she will gently grab your hand in her mouth and precede to escort you around in a consistent circle truly mimicking the motion of a real carousel. As she walks around, she 'talks' to you!!! It is extremely precious. So our little baby is really starting to feel like her true self again.

Thank you so much to my very special "Blogger Buddies" for sending your love and thoughts for Janie during her 24 hour watch. There is nothing like the love and support one feels from the thoughts of ones blogger buddies!!

We have until approximately 6:00 p.m. tonight and she will be off her 24 hour watch. We have given her two antibiotics so far, and she will get her third at 6:00 p.m. so this is good. The medicine will hopefully start doing it magic real soon.

I guess the bleeding is a good thing as it gets rid of the bacteria..but it is so hard to see. For the next 24 hours, we are to watch her closely. And on Thursday she will be spayed. I'm Making A Journal - online class with Carole Brungar

I just signed up for I'm Making A Journal - an online class with Carole Brungar. I simply cannot wait to start this new online class.

Recently, I just completed my very first Journal via an online class with Carla Sonheim. Here is a picture of the journal I made in her class:

I am totally addicted to making journals these days!! So far, I have made a total of 11 journals similar to the style of Skippy's Journal. I will be showing all of these to you very soon.

Here is another drawing that I finished. Currently, I am taking an online Sketchbook Delight class with Alisa Burke. I am truly having a lot of fun. Normally you can find me at the sewing machine, however, I am branching out...and now I am learning how to draw.

My husband bought me a book recently entitled : 50 Artists You Should Know, written by Thomas Koster, with contributions by Lars Roper. In this book, they included this painting by Picasso and I immediately fell in love with it... so ... I thought "what the heck"...let me see if I can draw this using colored pencils. Oh my gosh, I couldn't believe how it turned out. I was totally surprised. Here is it...what do you think? Not bad, for a total, and I mean total beginner:

Oh, and I am using a book that we purchased from a used book store as my sketchbook. (my drawing Picasso's painting isn't a part of the online class - I just drew it for fun.)

Anyways, I better get back to sewing and completing the orders that I have.

Jane TOTALLY Enjoys the Snow & Our Walk to the Park

We Have Snow! These past couple days all it has done is Snow. Now keep in mind that we normally do not get a lot of snow - which I really like.

Little Janie was out in the snow today, too. Jane LOVED the snow. She has been out in it before - but oh my goodness not this much! She was running, leaping, just barreling in at fast speeds. She looked like a little deer.

Even though we got a lot of snow, I must admit - it sure is Beautiful. So, McKenna and I decided to go for a walk at the Park and take a few photos. Here are just a couple of the ones I took.

This next photo is of the lake at the park which is located just a hop and skip across the street from our house. Isn't it pretty. Very much a Winter Wonderland.

Our picture taking walk was a success. It truly is so much fun to come home and view all the photos. Sometimes you see even more beauty than you did while on the walks.

Sketchbook Delight Online Class with Alisa Burke - continued

I am having SO much fun in Alisa Burke's online Sketchbook Delight class.

This weeks homework is to draw something and fill it in with a variety of ways using lines and dots, etc. And no color. This is what I came up with.

I like how the grapes and cherries turned out. But, the apple and pear, well...back to the drawing board for me.

Hello Everyone,

Not only am I currently taking A Journal and A Purse Online Class with Carla Sonheim, I am also learning how to draw.

I have been playing around a little bit with doodles, and got to thinking "maybe I should take an online class to learn about drawing."

One of my favorite Artists' blogs to follow is Alisa Burke's blog. I really love her style of drawing, painting, sketching. She is an amazing artist. Just recently she offered her Sketchbook Delight Online Class.

Now please keep in mind I am a "Newbie" to all things related to drawing. But, I do love doodling and attempting to draw.

For part of our homework, we were to test our supplies and experiment with shapes and/or patterns in search of our Muse.

This is the result of my searching and experimenting:

I literally was searching all over the house trying to find a shape to inspire me. I simply could not come up with anything. So, finally while talking to McKenna, I said "well, I guess I better try to find a shape...I'm coming up with nothing!"... then I stopped noticed her telephone dial....and hooray...I found my shape.

Here is another pic of it. I used Sharpies, and Colored Pencils.

I wanted to try one more drawing attempt, and noticed a photograph of Kiwi in a book. At this time, I was thinking that I needed to "get to the center" of finding my very own Muse....here is the result:

Here is another view: (I'm still trying to figure out why the image is flipped...hmm...) I used watercolors (which I thoroughly LOVE), and a few colored pencils.

I am having SO much taking these online classes. I definitely plan to take more!!

If you are like me and have been contemplating on whether or not to learn something new - my advice would be: JUMP IN AND ENJOY!!!! Because it is so much fun and extremely rewarding.

A Journal and A Purse Online Class with Carla Sonheim - PLUS "Never Growing Old"

Hooray! I completed my journal. I am taking an online class with Carla Sonheim. In this class we are making a Journal and a Purse. We are in week two and I just finished my journal.

This is a very, very special journal. I designed this journal using a fabric photo image that McKenna and I designed of Skippy. We designed this a few years ago (we had it made at Spoonflower). And the rest of the fabric used in this journal is fabric that I had used when making Skippy harness and leash sets. I am so very glad that I had saved the fabric from her harness/leash sets.

For those of you that don't know our story, we were very fortunate to have cherished Skippy our little pug for 14 wonderful years. She was a very special part of our family.

I made this journal out of lots of love. Love for little Miss Skippy Wu.

How do you like it? The idea of using her special fabics came to me as I was designing it.

This online class is extremely fun. I am enjoying it very much. Carla Sonheim's technique for making this journal is SO COOL. If you are interested in a fun online class, I highly recommend one of Carla's. Please visit her site at: www.Carla Sonheim.com to learn more.

"YOU ARE SO CUTE" ...

Hello Blogger Buddies,

Here is a picture that McKenna took of her sweet Baby Jane. Isn't little Janie Poo a cutie pugtootie!

McKenna has had her little baby Jane for a little over 5 months now. Jane just turned 7 months old. Boy, it is something how fast the days go by.

And for over five months now, McKenna tells Jane "YOU ARE SO CUTE", a zillion times a day. (Okay, maybe not actually a zillion...but you get the idea.)

This next picture of Jane she has a string from a hoodie in her mouth. It is really silly because Hoodie Strings are Janes FAVORITE toy! She will walk all over the house with these strings in her mouth. She will even drink her water with the string in her mouth. Both McKenna and I like to wear hoodies in the house, especially since it is colder - and need less to say....our hoodies do not have any ties! LOL

Meet Nicky ... a beautiful Standard Poodle from Northport, AL...wearing a Dog Snood from Linden Line Designs

Linden Line Designs has a new testimonial on our Snood page. I would like to thank Kay and Bob T. of Northport, AL, for sharing their many kind words as well as great photos of their poodle, Nicky.

"We received the snood you made for our poodle Nicky. We all love it. We were using the alligator style hair clips and Nicky would back away and cringe when he saw the clip. When we went to take the clip off he would duck his head and try to get out of reach. They worked fairly well as long as he did not shake his head, which would cause the clip to fly away.
Now, all we have to say is "let's put your snood on" and he stands and eats his meal like nothing is on him. After he finishes his meal, we tell him "snood" and have him sit and then we catch the snood on both sides in front and he backs out of it.
All three of us love it and will never be without one or more.
Thank you again for your help in picking the right size."

I just love this story it makes me very happy that Nicky is so comfortable with his new snood. No more alligator clips for him.

Some of you might be asking:
What is a dog snood?

Well the snood is a gentle way to hold back a dog's long ears to prevent accidental chewing. It also helps keep the ears from dipping into food and water.

Many snoods are used at Dog Shows for showing purposes.

Snoods can also be used to aid in the healing process, too. Some dogs get bloody ear tips due to vasculitis and need a snood to help aid in the healing process.

Veterans Day

For so many of us Veterans Day is just another day in our busy daily routines, however; when you have a quiet moment today - please take some time to think about all the sacrifices others have made in defending our country and our allies. Autumn with Jane Austen Eyre and a Newt and a Beetle Bug

Jane absolutely LOVES to pick up the leaves. She thinks it is something that she should not have and therefore ZOOMS away from us like "he, he, he...Catch Me If You Can". She is so fast I can't believe it.

Here is another picture of Autumn with Jane. This one is my favorite.

And also, this little guy greeted us yesterday first thing in the morning! I think it is a Newt.

McKenna was the one who actually picked it up to put him in a safer place. Me...oh let's just say I'm not too fond of little critters like this...they are okay to look at but No Way am I going to pick one up!!

Jane Austen Eyre wears her new Pug Harness on her First Walk to the Park!!!!

Our little Janie Poo needed a new harness. So... since Purple is one of McKenna's favorite colors, this is what she chose for Jane. Isn't it pretty. Not only does it have Purple, it has so many other wonder colors like red, yellow, teal, black, hot pink, and even orange - that add sparkle to our little Janie Poo. I really enjoyed making this harness little Jane. However, she is growing so quickly that she will be needing another one probably sooner than I think!

We had to hold off until just recently to take Jane to the park across the street from our house, because she had a skin infection. She is now off the antibotic and cross your fingers that the infection is GONE!! Poor little Jane, she was so itchy and she was even loosing small patches of her fur.

It was really cute watching Jane walk around at the park. You could tell just by looking at the way she was holding herself that she was thinking "Oh - my - this is just such a big world!!" She was SO excited and slightly hesitant all rolled into one. Towards the end of the walk she literally got frightened by a big boulder. So we picked her up and told her it was okay...and then headed onward towards home because she was trembling. It was a very big day for such a small little pug!

This following picture kinda shows that scared little puggie face: Poor little Jane.

There is truly nothing like a PUG! They bring such a wonderful variety of all things good each and every day. (Even on those 'monster puppy' days, too :)

Meet Jane Austen-Eyre THE PUG!!

Jane Austen-Eyre is the newest member to our family.

We got Jane on July 31st. She has been with our family now for a little over two months. Isn't she cute! She is ALL PUPPY!!! And it is so much fun watching her develop as she does all sorts of Typical PUG THINGS!!!! Whew...we get tired though....she has TONS more energy than us!

She is named after McKenna's favorite author: Jane Austen as well as her favorite novel, Jane Eyre.

Sneak Peek at the NEW LOOK for Linden Line Designs

Here is a little peek at the new design for Linden Line Designs. McKenna aka the College Student has been juggling a lot these days - that's the life of a college student - right! Anyhow, she will be putting the final touches on the new web design that she has been working many hours with. I can't wait to show the new site to everyone. Hopefully it will be up later tonight! Cross your fingers. The new design is WONDERFUL. I love the colors, the format, I just love everything about it. And I especially love that my lovely daughter designed and maintained everything - which I might add is all self-taught! (Can you tell I'm the proud MOM.)

In Honor of Miss Skippy Wu ..... June, 1996 ... June 2010

Dear Little Miss Skippy Wu:

We are so fortunate to have shared 14 wonderful years with you. Not only all together as a family, but also to have shared one on one relationships with you, too. As a family, we enjoyed practically everything you did. You brought such joy into our lives. We were so thrilled when we felt that McKenna was old enough to have a Pug. And at age 5 she picked YOU. I still remember this precious little girl choosing you - “the shy one” and carrying you all around the breeders backyard in a somewhat uncomfortable position for you. And did you mind? Heck, no! You let her hold you all around that yard in a bear hug type hold, little pug belly in full view, with your little back paws just a dangling. You allowed this all without any sort of puppy protest. You Were The One! From that day forward lasting throughout 14 remarkable years you and McKenna continuously remained “Two Peas in a Pod”. The two of you grew up together. When I look back through the years and look at all the pictures, all these memories share one key ingredient: LOVE. I remember from the very first day we brought you home and for the next few years to follow - that little dog bed wasn’t solely yours... it was “McKenna and Yours”. McKenna read to you, napped with you, played with you, and held you all in “Your Dog Bed”. This will always be a very special memory for me.

A silly memory for me would be all the faces you made while posing for pictures wearing McKenna’s old baby clothes. McKenna loved to play “dress up” with you. The expressions of your face pretty much tell all. Let’s just say playing “dress up” wasn’t one of your favorite things.

There are just so many wonderful precious memories. I could go on and on describing all the cute, adorable, loving things we shared with you throughout these 14 years.

There are so many because you were such an important family member. It was so fun traveling with you. You loved to go on vacations, and we truly loved and enjoyed sharing our vacations with you. McKenna believes that Lake Chelan was your favorite spot! And I agree. We always stayed at the same place and we know you remembered it year after year.

And here are just a few more pictures that we love:

And as for my one on one relationship, I loved how you followed me daily from room to room. You were my little shadow. One of my favorite times with you was each night after dinner, when we all sat down to watch TV and we would get the blanket so you could sit and snooze on my lap. I loved this. And you couldn’t just sit on my lap, you had to have a blanket down first It was so silly because if we forgot to put the blanket down first, you just sat up waiting for someone to grab the blanket.

McKenna is right - you definitely had us wrapped around that curly little tail of yours. I also agree with McKenna that we will most definitely miss you from our physical world - however, in our hearts:

"We Will Always Love You."

I use my harnesses on both of our dogs. One is a Pug - Skippy, and the other is a Siberian Husky mix - Larka. I especially love using harnesses for walking because when our dogs pull, the pressure is away from their throat.

I sell numerous harnesses at various Pug Events and I have been told by many Pug Lovers as well as Pug Breeders that my harnesses are very well made, fit their pugs extremely well, and hold up wash after wash. (For better laundry results, please use a lingerie bag and air dry.)

Yann Martel's author reading of Beatrice and Virgil at Third Place Books

We attended yet another very exciting event!! The above picture is of McKenna with Yann Martel. He is the author of the internationally acclaimed 2002 Man Booker Prize - winning novel Life of Pi.

Life of Pi is a novel that McKenna just recently finished reading for her English Literature class. Life of Pi is another one of McKenna's favorite books. It was extremely exciting when we learned that Yann Martel was going to be appearing at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park, WA.

All three of us, thoroughly enjoyed listening to his reading. And it was especially wonderful to listen to him answer questions from the audience. He definitely captured our attention. He is an excellent speaker - truly mesmerizing.

He did this special reading from his new book: Beatrice and Virgil. This new novel, deals with the Holocaust: its main characters are two talking animals (a monkey and a donkey), who are stuffed animals in a taxidermy shop.

Alan Alda visits Seattle Repertory Threatre with his new play RADIANCE

Not only did we visit Wolf Haven International during McKenna's Spring Break, we were extremely fortunate to attend a play written by Alan Alda.

Afterwards, both McKenna and I were thrilled to have the opportunity of meeting Alan Alda. We are huge fans of his and admire and respect his work.

For the first time, I must admit - I was a tad 'star-struck', and was so glad that McKenna did the majority of the talking.

She wants to be a published author, and the two of them discussed writing. He even gave her a few pointers.

The play was EXCELLENT. We thoroughly enjoyed it and now want to attend more plays at the Seattle Repertory Theatre.

Here is a little bit of information that was written about Alan Alda's play:

...Acclaimed actor Alan Alda brought his first full-length script "Radiance" to Seattle as part of the Seattle Repertory Theatre's Spring Workshop series, under their New Play Program. Wolf Haven International

The other day we went to Wolf Haven International. This is a WONDERFUL Wolf sanctuary located in Tenino, Washington. Here are a few pictures from our visit.

Aren't they just beautiful!! The staff at Wolf Haven take you on a guided tour. It was so interesting to learn of the many facts regarding wolves.

This next picture is of Caedus. He was born in 2007 and became a resident of Wolf Haven in 2009. Caedus' owner, who is a member of the U.S. Military, was deployed to the Middle East.

When the tour guide started talking about Caedus and all eyes were on Caedus - I think everyone on the tour truly thought he was a "Big Puppy"!! He was so excited to see everyone, jumping around with total joy! McKenna got the biggest kick out of Caedus, and when we went to the gift shop, they had adoption forms for all of the wolves. McKenna adopted Caedus!!

Not only did we see all of the beautiful wolves, we also were amazed by this glorious tree - The Grandfather Tree which is over 250 years old!!! The branches were so low and touched the ground, we were able to go underneath this tree - it was like entering a secret magical world under there!

Here is another picture of the tree to show you how HUGE it is. McKenna is standing near it.

We had such a wonderful day at Wolf Haven, I can't wait to return.

Jane Eyre "Book" Purse from Lollopins

In my spare time, I absolutely LOVE 'product surfing' on ETSY.

Here is a picture of a Jane Eyre Book Purse that was custom made for McKenna. She loves to read, and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is her favorite book. McKenna also LOVES purses! So...put the two together and you have the perfect gift for her!

Isn't it lovely! Just look at the colors. All the fabrics coordinate beautifully together. (Make sure to click on each photo to see the larger views :)

I loved McKenna's Book Purse, so much that I ordered one for myself. Mine is made from a vintage book that I purchased on ETSY as well - Milestone Summer by Nicolete Meredith. When I saw the cover of this book, I knew that I wanted this for a purse! The cover is so FUN. I asked Ginger of Lollopins to make the strap on mine longer. It was so much fun to receive both purses. I love looking at the creativity that went into making each one. Both McKenna and I are extremely happy with how our purses turned out!! Ginger adds so many wonderful extra touches.

Lollopins is a "Mother/Daughter" team. Both Ginger (the mom) and Bonnie (the daughter) are extremely talented and very enjoyable to talk with. Currently, they have a couple of book purses available at their Lollopins ETSY Shop and they gladly accept custom orders. (Both McKenna and my book purses were custom orders. Bonnie found the perfect copy of Jane Eyre for me, and I found and shipped the copy of Milestone Summer.

All I can say is WOW!!! How very exciting this has been. I can just imagine how the two women over at Crafthope are feeling. As of Wednesday, January 20th they have raised over $20,000 and have sold over 1000 items at their ETSY shop all in a very short amount of time! (UPDATE AS OF 1/29/10... THE NEW TOTAL IS $27.000!!) This is absolutely terrific. The ETSY community both Purchases and Shops that Donated, are totally AWESOME! And they are still going strong! Congratulations to everyone who has participated!

Dog Snoods for Healing Purposes

This is Tucker of Seattle, WA wearing a snood for healing purposes. He had bloody ear tips due to vasculitis and needed a snood quickly to help with the healing. When his owner notified me of this situation, I immediately made this custom snood and shipped it ASAP. I just felt so sorry for Tucker.

This is Sydney of Brighton, MI. Sydney also needed a snood for healing purposes. It is truly wonderful knowing that my snoods are helping not only the pets in need, but also helping their owners that love them. I know how we feel when we are worrying about one of our pets. All you really want to do is help them the best way possible.

Melvin Moves To Washington State

Hello Everyone,

I would like to introduce you to Melvin. MELvin was lovingly made by MELanie of Shop Moe Moe. Melvin originally lived in Colorado. He is the newest addition to our family.

Isn't Melvin just a little cutie patootie. We think so. We love Melvin. And so do "Happy Heart" and "Edie". Both Happy Heart and Edie were lovingly made by Melanie as well.

When these three met for the first time they instantly became friends. To welcome Melvin to the neighborhood, Happy Heart and Edie took Melvin on a nature walk:

Next the silly friends decided to go tree climbing. Be careful Melvin:

Melvin is such a curious little pup....watch out for the wild life...that one looks like a white wolf! Oh boy, that was a close one!

After a long day of nature walking and running into wild life...the three friends were very tired - so they decided to just relax and look up at the beautiful blue sky to find cloud shapes! What a fun way to end a beautiful day!

I think they add a special touch to my products! If you use side-release buckles in your projects, definitely try adding color instead of using basic black. Photo Hunt Theme

Hello Everyone,

I was reading Puglette's Blog the other night, and she was telling everyone of this fun new site she found called Photo Hunt. So I thought it sounded interesting and checked it out.

It is extremely interesting and really fun! I wanted to participate too! This week's theme is: Triangles

I was finishing this harness for the Pug Gala, and when I looked at it closer guess what I found: A TRIANGLE I was SO excited, that I took this picture so that I can be a part of Photo Hunt, too!

Hi Everyone,

I have added two more designs of my new iPod Case and/or Dog Walking Pocket. Boy, I am having so much fun picking out the fabrics for these! I hope you enjoy them too.

New Item: PUG iPod Case

I am very excited to be announcing a new item that I designed.

I am calling these my "Perfect Pocket" Cases.

Tony and McKenna wanted a small case to hold their iPods, and I wanted a small something 'hands free' to use while I'm walking the dogs. Each Perfect Pocket Case has one outside pocket as well and the main compartment.

I just listed them at my ETSY store.

I have had Laryngitis for 7 days now, my voice is getting stronger as long as I don't talk. But that isn't easy for me LOL. Beautiful Words

Isn't it fun and enjoyable to just take a few moments to browse various blogs. I love doing that - it is like when you 'flip through the tv channels' and channel surf for something fun and interesting to watch.

Anyhow, I came across one of my favorite sewing blogs announcing a fabric giveaway. Well, I LUV fabric and a giveaway, too!

To enter the giveaway, all you have to do is describe what you see from your window. The first thing I thought of was - McKenna. This is definitely something that McKenna would like to explain because she absolutely loves the view from our living room. So I just thought I'll ask McKenna to write the paragraph solely because she loves to write and it will be fun for her.

This is what she wrote in a manner of minutes:

My window opens to the tree-lined park across the street from my house. A slender, undisturbed dirt trail winds through an otherwise overgrown, vivid forest abundant with nature's glory. An old hollowed tree stands proudly in the center of the view, home to hungry woodpeckers and curious squirrels. There is a lake in the middle of the park, and during cloudless days beams of the sun's otherworldly brilliance will collide with the calm water, making it sparkle like the night sky. The view is just as beautiful when covered in peaceful, quiet snow, when enshrouded in mysterious fog, or when drenched in calming rain. No matter the weather, the view always makes me feel at home, and content to take a few moments to gaze out and simply revel in its beauty.

Can you believe she wrote this in a matter of minutes! I can you you this, I am so extremely proud of that girl!

Seattle Pug Rescue - 14th Annual PUG GALA - a fundraiser event

I am so excited for the 14th Annual Pug Gala event hosted by the Seattle Pug Rescue. I have been a vendor for the past few years at this event and I must tell you it is extremely exciting. By the end of the event I usually lose my voice because I am talking to so many other Pug Lovers!

I feel very proud to say that for a little over two years now I have also been donating my harness and leash sets, plus collars and bandanas to the Seattle Pug Rescue and to date I have donated close to $1,000 worth of merchandise. I decided to do this way of helping the Seattle Pug Rescue, because there is NO way I could foster pugs! My heart wouldn't be able to handle turning them over to their new forever homes.

There is another reason why this event is going to be very exciting....
if you look at the very bottom of the poster, you will see that SPR has a very special guest whom I cannot wait to meet in person! (If you can't read the fine print, just click on the poster image and it will appear larger.)

I have been sewing like crazy for this event! Plus I have a new product that I will be introducing shortly!

Meet Buster Brown The Bulldog

This is Buster. Buster Brown to be exact! Just look at that face! I have a beautiful story to share about Buster Brown. Buster is my 'nephew', he belongs to my brother - Tom. Tom lives in Florida with his wife Julie and their other bulldog, Isabella. Tom works at Fox TV - Orlando as one of their reporters. Well, about 2 1/2 months ago, he was doing a story on dogs living in shelters. While Tom was getting a tour of the place, he came across "Buster Brown". Now my brother is one of kindest people you will ever meet. (One of the 'beats' that he does is helping people who have been 'done wrong' or 'ripped off' by businesses both big and small. Tom broadcasts these problems and finds solutions for those in need!)

Well, Buster Brown was in grand need of help. He was on 'death row', literally hours from it. Tom just couldn't bear to see that happen and immediately adopted Buster - medical problems and all. (Buster had pneumonia, heart worm, an extremely infected tail - which just yesterday had to be amputated, and the list truly goes on and on.) Well, Tom didn't care about all Buster's medical issues.

Buster Brown has been a permanent family member for almost three months now.

Just look at this smile, it truly says it all, doesn't it. I think Buster Brown knows he is safe and very loved now.

I'm Finally BACK!!! HOORAY!

Oh my goodness! Boy oh boy...have I ever missed blogging! I can't believe how long it's been since my last post.

Sure is a wonderful feeling being back in the swing of things!

I am SO excited!!! For a few years now, I have been wanting an Embroidery Machine so that I can personalize my bandanas, collars, etc. etc. and I'm so very happy to say that I've placed my order and my new machine will arrive very, soon!

I feel just like a little kid waiting for my birthday or something. So in the meantime, to calm myself down, I literally have been searching a zillion sites to learn more info on what I can do with this new machine!

And you wouldn't believe all the things these machines can do! It's wonderful.

So as soon the machine arrives, I'm going to try my best to figure out how it works, and then post my very first project! HOORAY. Wish me luck.

Skippy Meets Two New Bears

I am so excited because the other day I received these two adorable bears. Aren't they just the cutest! I ordered them from Melanie at her etsy shop: MOE MOE. Both of these cute little bears certainly called out to me. They were definitely one of those "must have" purchases. I love it when you can find items that you absolutely fall in love with. When I first visited Melanie's shop I immediately noticed the bear that is pictured right next to Skippy. This is a Bavarian Bear - and on the ribbon there are some beautiful Edelweiss Flowers. I actually purchased this little bear for Tony and McKenna's father/daughter collection. They have an edelweiss collection consisting of many different items. McKenna named their Bavarian Bear "Edie" (pronounced EE-dee). Tony and McKenna started their collection when McKenna was a toddler back in the days when we used to watch "The Sound of Music" all the time.

And the other little bear - the quilted one - well...that was a "To Me From Me" gift!

A Beautiful Walk in the Snow

It snowed again last night, so when we woke up this morning everything looked like a true Winter Wonderland. McKenna and I decided to go for a walk. Right across the street from us is a small lake and park. We thought we better get out there quick because a couple days ago we wanted to, and it RAINED, so all the snow sticking to the trees came off!

Boy, isn't it something that 2009 is already here! My goodness time really does fly by! So much to do, and it seems like so little time....This is going to be one of my New Year's Resolutions: Try to be successful in accomplishing as many things on my TO DO list as possible! Wish me luck!

One of the things I have been wanting to do for months now, is sign up for ETSY. And, I'm very happy to say that (with with help of my daughter - McKenna) we did! I now have a new ETSY shop. (So far, I think I'm learning the ETSY ropes pretty good. They offer so much help which makes it wonderful.)

Sharing a Story

I wanted to share this story with everyone. When my teenage daughter was a pre-schooler she absolutely loved books and especially the books that came with puppets. Last month, I was wondering what in the world should I purchase for my 5-year old nephew - Garrett for Christmas. Well, lucky for me and Garrett, too - I read Melissa's blog practically every day. And one day last month she posted about a book she wrote entitled Emmitt and Olive - and guess what - she accompanied the book with handmade crocheted matching puppets.

I am very happy to say that Melissa's book with matching puppets was and is a very big hit with Garrett. I was talking to Garrett on Christmas Day and he told me how he LOVED his book, and then he went on to tell me that he even made his puppets a house to live in. I thought this was so cute.

Just yesterday, my sister expanded on how much Garrett is enjoying his book set. She said it is his # 2 Christmas Gift. (His # 1 Christmas gift is an electric car that Garrett can drive that goes 5mph.) My sister said there is just something extra special about the way in which Melissa illustrated and wrote the book that truly captured Garrett's attention. As for the puppets, they get to be the passengers in Garrett's new car!

If any of you are looking for an extremely wonderful gift to share with young children, I highly recommend Melissa's book set.

It makes me so happy that Garrett loves his gift because this gift also is a way to share my love of pugs with him! Thank you Melissa.

Precious Paw Print

I don't know what it is about this picture...but I just love it. Out here in the Pacific Northwest and especially in our neighborhood since we are 1,000 feet up in the mountains, we have been getting a lot of snow! So the other day it was blowing onto the porch and I let little Miss Skippy Wu come out for a second to see all the snow. She stepped out and created this lovely paw print!

Since it has been SO cold especially for little Miss Wu, we only let her out for extremely shorts visits. Here is a picture of the lovely coat she wears on these beautiful snowy days:
